***Past week's pondering***
Hello lovely sisters. I'm typing this up on Sunday with my furry friend Ollie curled up at my feet and snow falling softly out my window. I had a long work week, but I got the Christmas tree up and the house decorated. I also went to my local Salvation Army and found a few treasures for a dollar apiece! They choose a color each week and on Friday & Saturday, that color is 5 items for $5! I went in to find a warm, soft scarf and left with a cartload! I have a bunch I'm decluttering and donating as well, a box of women's clothing (some still with tags, I'm terrible at returning things) several purses, and three bags of men's clothes from Jeff.
My sister is having an ultrasound this week to see how badly damaged her liver is. This is the same thing we went through over 7 years ago - but I am not sure if she will be able to bounce back this time. The entire family is under a blanket of gloom, waiting to find out if her body has the capacity to repair, or if she will continue going downhill without a transplant. My heart breaks for my Dad and my nephew. My Dad blames himself for not realizing she was drinking again. My nephew because 7 years ago she promised she would stop drinking for him. Please know - I realize it is a disease and I am not shaming her, and I pray she has the ability to get better. But, that doesn't make it easier on anyone.
*** The weather in my neck of the woods***
We will be in the mid-upper 20s most of the week with several days of snow. Very typical for this time of year in SE Michigan.

Black track pants and a Kuromi t-shirt (Hello Kitty)
*** Books I'm reading ***
Currently: Still having a hard time reading. Depression and anxiety has been somewhat better, but it's still hard to concentrate. HOWEVER - I did buy, borrow, and get a couple free books and Kindle books this week, so I will share those with you. An awful lot of books for someone who isn't reading right now!
1. 12-Week Year - I paid $11. I've put it off for a long time because I hate paying more than a couple dollars for any book - but with planning for 2026, I felt it was time.
2. I had $9 credit from choosing longer shipping times, so I was able to get two e-books for free, Lysa Teurkerst's Becoming More Than A Good Bible Study Girl & the study guide
3. Kindle First books: The Water Lies by Amy Meyerson (thriller, looks good) & bonus The Lst Father-Daughter Dance by Lisa Wingate.
4. I thrifted two books by Jan Karon - I am trying to collect the entire Mitford Series. I paid 1.50 total, I think.
The rest I borrowed from Kindle Unlimited:
5. A bunch of cookbooks
6. Twelve Ordinary Men (about the Apostles)
7. Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street
8 Mary Kay Andrew's Bright Lights, Big Christmas
9. 100X Life: A Daily Practice by Rob Dayton
Bible: Finishing up 2nd Corinthians (LOVE) & will be in the book of Romans this week.
For Advent I'll be reading Luke 8-14
Reading Plans:
I would love to start reading a couple Christmas books. If not, I'll just flip through cookbooks and Christian study/living books. SIGH.

*** What's Happening in Well-Versed-Women***
My mental health issues really messed me up toward the end of the year. I started several projects and finished nothing. (Well, a very small scripture writing plan for Advent). I stopped writing entirely. I often wonder if it's true that the enemy attacks when you are working for the Kingdom of God. Because every time I sat down to work on the Titus 2 or Advent project, my mind would just feel blank (like writer's block, no creativity) and I'd give up immediately. It could just be me doing it. I don't want to make excuses - but after re-reading Fervent (STILL) it makes me wonder.

IN MY WAR BINDER
I don't think I even looked at it last week. Ugh. I read the Word, I prayed - but the ONE THING that keeps coming up over and over and over and over again in my head is: Finish setting up your prayer corner. Spend time in prayer and being still. Have I done it? Nope.
*** This week's prayer list***
My sister Beth's liver condition
My penpal's relationship with the LORD
Anyone having a difficult time through the holidays
All those without shelter and plentiful food
For wars to end & no new ones to develop
All those in wartorn lands
The people rebuilding after hurricane Melissa
Christians around the world being persecuted
