***Past week's pondering***
Christmas was truly beautiful. I spent time with my family. I loved all the decorations around the house (already started taking them down today *shrug* not the tree though, not til January 6th) Emily sent me a beautiful little rosebush in a cardinal pot, a cardinal wind chime, and a pretty ring. But even more special, she messaged me "Merry Christmas, Mama" which nearly brought me to tears.
Jeff and I visited his mother and brother early in the day and then went to my Dad's house to cook dinner. We put together a feast. Even my son came and ate at the table with us. Very blessed.
Over Christmas, most of Jeff's family came down with Influenza A (it's going around in this area, hospitals full of it). His older brother then got bronchitis and pneumonia with it. Well, this morning we found out that he had a stroke and fell in the shower. He's currently in the hospital undergoing treatment. I definitely appreciate your prayers! We should know more tomorrow.
*** The weather in my neck of the woods***
Complete craziness as per usual. Today is going to hit 58 degrees by 10 pm! It's really foggy and has been raining all day. Most of Michigan is expecting a big winter storm - but Detroit? "minimal" BOOOOOOOOO.
M - 31 with snow and high wind warnings
T - 26 and snow
W - 28 and snow
Th - 19 and partly sunny
F - 24 and snow
S - 26 and party sunny
Sunday 26 and a chance of snow
*** Thinking about ***
I have so much on my mind. Too much, honestly. But it is all on the foundation of my faith - so that changes everything.
My cat passed a kidney stone last week! The poor baby. I was so worried we would lose him. He is doing well though! We just have to change his food, so I'll be buying two different expensive cat foods now LOL LOL
*** What I am wearing ***
A long black cotton nightgown with a cat face on it! LOL It's only 7 pm but I worked HARD today and needed a hot shower for my aching old-lady back!
*** Books I'm reading ***
Currently: Still nothing; however, I am ready to start back up!
Bible: In Revelation. On NY Day I am starting an in-depth study of King David!
Jeff bought me a gorgeous new Bible for Christmas! Funny, as I bought him one too! LOL We were both in need of a new one. I'm so excited to start using it on the 1st! (I'm finishing up the Bible Recap in my old Bible)
*** What's on my tv ***
YouTube (lots of planning videos, Christian women, thrifting, cooking)
House of David
The Chosen
Jeff and I watched "The Shack" last night.
*** On the breakfast plate ***
I made a blueberry oatmeal bake & had a piece of that while it was still warm! I'll enjoy it with tea this week.
*** On the lunch plate ***
Leftover spaghetti that Jeff made last night
*** On the dinner plate ***
I haven't had dinner. I'll probably have a yogurt parfait.
*** On the menu ***
I spent a few hours today meal prepping some freezer meals! I am determined to get back to healthy eating with a good deal of whole food plant-based meals. With Jeff's brother having a stroke - (he has diabetes like me. He's also lost a lot of weight and has been walking regularly - also like me) it's been a wake-up call. I will still eat meat, but I want to focus more on plant foods, whole grains. I was doing so well on that for about 6 months.
Monday Chickpea and brown rice bake
Tuesday Broccoli & cheese baked potatoes
Wednesday Crispy air fryer tofu with peanut noodles & veggies
Thursday NY Day: Chinese Food. Probably shrimp, veggies, and rice dish.
Friday Leftovers.
Saturday Planning a trip to Trader Joe's. Chicken-less Mandarin orange chicken, veggie fried rice, wontons or spring rolls.
Sunday Lentil veggie soup with sourdough bread
*** On my to do list ***
This week:
Work M, T, W, F
NYE watching movies with Jeff
NY Day having Chinese food and playing Uno with my family
Finishing Bible Recap
Finish up goal planning for 2026
Grocery shopping
Packing up most of the Christmas decorations
Decluttering starts!
*** What's Happening in Well-Versed Women***
I think I've already mentioned that I will be re-launcing my website next month. (I do have a temporary free website up at the moment, but I'll be upgrading)
*** No words needed (favorite photo or picture) ***

DeleteI hope that your Brother in law recovers soon! I hate that he's been going through so much especially this time of year! I'm with you on realizing its certainly time to dial in and begin a healthier regiment. I've been really relaxed especially over the holidays and its time to get serious! I'm working on my resolutions post today! I def have some health goals in there! I'm also excited to get back to blogging :) I've missed it! Excited to see what 2026 brings!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back! I've been working a lot on planning too - and I am hoping to blog more than just HHM! I've never been a very consistent blogger, but I've been doing pretty well on Mondays, so I am going to see if I can do a bit more! We can hold each other accountable on the health goals! Maybe add a section to our HHM posts :) Happy New Year!
DeleteLovey pictures. Glad you enjoyed your Christmas. The flu is going around here too, hospitals are full. Thinking of your bil. Happy New Year to you and your family

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year. Sounds like a very blessed Christmas. I too wait until AT LEAST King's day before dismantling the tree.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about all the flu and your BIL's stroke. I will keep him in my prayers. DO many things going around her also with quite a few cases of CAP (community acquired pneumonia) so have been being VERY careful of exposure.
