Unsettled Soul

My coworker and I have been talking a lot over the past two weeks about the sheer unaffectedness of our hearts over the worlds' tragedies. We are both Christian women who try our best to do what is right.  We are church goers.  We are family women.  We worship and praise through prayer and music.  So how is it when multitudes of people are killed on the other side of the world we only take a moment out of our days to think "oh, how awful.  Those poor people".  And.  Well.  Maybe a quick prayer goes up for strength and comfort. But that's about it.

Is it just us?  Are we the only ones that have become quickly numb to the horrific monstrosities of ISIS, the eruptions in Chile, the quake in Nepal?  Those are just a few of the things that are happening around the world.  We have fires, tornados, abductions and so many more things going on right here in the US as well.

The world we live in is getting more and more explosive and I'm not sure I know what to do about it.  How do you let the feelings in without completely breaking from the weight of it all?
