Top Ten Tuesday (A Day Late!): Characters I'd Follow on Social Media

So I may be a day late and a dollar short as per usual - but I'm joining in this week for Top Ten Tuesday!  You can find TTT at That Artsy Reader Girl every .... you guessed it!  Tuesday. 

This week's topic, which I think is brilliant btw, is "Characters I'd Follow on Social Media".  It was submitted by Tilly at The Biblioshelf.


Melanie Hamilton - Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell Aside from being my all-time favorite book and movie GWTW has some of my favorite characters ever.  Now as much as I adore Scarlett and think she's amazing, I would MUCH RATHER read Melanie Hamilton's posts on Blogger or Wordpress.  I can imagine she would share great homemaking and child-rearing tips as well as how to be kind - even to those people who are not kind to you.  Melanie saw past people's outward behavior and saw deep into their hearts.  We could all use some more Melanie in our lives! 

BTW Gone with the Wind is offered on Kindle Unlimited!  If you like classics or historical fiction, you will love it! 

Cussy Mary aka Bluet - The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson
Mary is another great character.  She is smart, resourceful, kind, and she LOVES books!!!  Not only that, but she loves to bring books and reading to others.  I can imagine reading her blog for book reviews and library news and her Instagram for quick snaps of the books she loves and the people on her book route! (Also highly recommend - not on KU, but not a bad price for the Kindle edition!) 

Blix - Match Making for Beginners by Maddie Dawson Blix is such a great eccentric character.  She would have an amazing Facebook page and a group where she would make perfect love matches!  Her FB would also be sprinkled with colorful tidbits and perfectly gaudy outfit pictures! (This book also available on Kindle Unlimited) 

Eleanor Oliphant - Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman Eleanor is another eccentric character.  She is odd - but she is trying to figure her life out.  I'm thinking she would have a blog where she shares a bit TOO much - but under a different name so she could lay it all out there without having to face it head-on. 


Mma Ramotswe - All of the #1 Ladies' Detective Agency books by Alexander McCall 
Mma Ramotswe would give good advice about EVERYTHING!  She would have a YouTube channel.  She would share her knowledge outside on her front porch or in front of a shade tree with a view of Gaborone in the background.  She is funny, personable, and knowledgeable and she'd have at least a million followers! 

Louisa Clark - Me Before You by Jojo Moyes Louisa is funny and delightful with a kooky sense of style!  She would be the perfect Instagrammer.  Daily pictures of her fuzzy sweaters or bumblebee tights would be interspersed with light talk about her daily life. 

Jo - Little Women by Louisa May Alcott Jo is a writer and I think a blog would be the perfect outlet for all of her creativity!  I imagine plays, short stories, and character creations.  What a gift that would be! (This ebook is free on Kindle!) 

Jaya - The Storyteller's Secret by Sejal Badani Jaya would have a Twitter account.  She would share tidbits of her life going between India and NY.  She's a busy woman, so Twitter would be great for her.  If you have NOT read this book - PLEASE DO!  It is so amazing!  One of a handful of books that I plan to re-read in my lifetime.  It is also a part of Kindle Unlimited!  (can you tell I'm a member?) 

Julie - The Designer Bag at the Garbage Dump by Jackie MacGirvin Julie would have a lot to share and would want to reach as many people as possible - so we would find her on Facebook.  Lots of content and picture-heavy but amazing and heartfelt!  She would share the changes in her life and her platform for children!  Again - READ THIS BOOK! 

Atticus Finch - To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee Hello Tinder!  Ever since reading TKAMB I've wanted to date Atticus!  A huge heart and a bookish, great mind!  I'd be all over those nerdy glasses!
