Happy Homemaker Monday for May 10th, 2021

I'm linking up with Sandra for Happy Homemaker Monday!

Hello ladies, I hope you all had a very blessed Mother's Day! I spent the day with my family and it was very nice.  HOWEVER, I realized how weak I still am from COVID.  Even though my quarantine is over and I'm in my 4th week - I am still pretty sick.  My heart flutters, I'm so fatigued that I need to nap almost every day (also because I have insomnia) I have terrible brain fog, dizziness, shortness of breath, weakness and headaches.   I have a doctor's appointment for an EKG to check out my heart.

The weather:::

It's going to be pretty cool for the next several days, in the upper 50's with some rain.  But Thursday through Monday looks really amazing - sunshine and 70's!

On my reading pile:::

 I ended up putting "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" aside because my COVID brain just can't concentrate very well!  But I did end up reading Angie Thomas's "The Hate You Give".  It was a really good book, I have it *****!  I live in the city of Detroit right now, so the setting of this book is similar.  It's really eye-opening to get an insight into a teenager's view of living in the inner city.  I definitely recommend it.

I am also reading several other books that I will talk about next week:

The Beginner's Guide to Backyard Homesteading by Lisa Lombardo
The Healing Power of Herbs by Tina Sams
A Year of Biblical Womanhood by Rachel Held Evans
Love Does by Bob Goff

On my TV:::

 Again - can't concentrate on much!
*Days of Our Lives
*You Tubers
*Anne with an E
*Grey's Anatomy

On the menu for this week:::

Monday -   Leftover Chinese Food from Mother's Day (General Tso's Chicken)
Tuesday -   Beef Stew in the Instapot
Wednesday -  Lentil Pasta with roasted vegetables
Thursday -   Mujadara

On my to do list:::

 Still rest, relax, and recover.  Doing a little bit here and there, but mostly lying in bed and reading.  Doing my Bible studies.  Watching a little TV.  I do about 10 minutes of housework and need 30 minutes of rest!

Looking around the house:::

The house definitely needs a deep clean.  Dusting, sweeping, mopping, washing windows, etc.  Just no energy for that! In the meantime, just keeping things picked up, Swiffered, wiped down, etc.

Something fun to share:::

 Last night Jeff was trying to cheer me up by making up silly songs and singing some old country songs too.  WELL - One of the songs I recognized as a record I used to listen to with my grandparents.  But NOT ONLY THAT - it was the same record that the song below is from - and it's a song I have been SEARCHING FOR FOR 3 DECADES!  God works in mysterious ways!  This is Jim Reeves with "The Blizzard".  This song used to make me cry when I was around 6-8 years old!  I also remember dancing around the house to his "Billy Bayou" song too!

On my prayer list:::

 *My Dad.  He's going through the same COVID issues that I am.  He was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation.  He's still extremely weak and needs to nap every day.  This nasty virus needs to GO!
*My Sweetheart Jeff.  He's awaiting a surgery date for his left hip replacement.  He's in a whole lot of pain because the ball of the femur is jammed into his hip socket.  Also praying he does not have problems with the anesthesia like he did last time!

Bible verse, Devotional:::

I've been reading a couple of devotionals and prayer books - I'll share those today!

100 Days to Brave by Annie Downs
The Love Dare Day by Day A Year of Devotions for Couples (Jeff & I doing this together)
A Diary of Private Prayer by John Baillie (Jeff & I)
YouVersion's "Story" - YouVersion is SO WONDERFUL! If you don't have it downloaded, you really should.  There are so many wonderful things to discover.

I have two sessions left of Priscilla Shirer's Elijah.  This study has been really wonderful.  It's about re-igniting the fire of God in your life.  At the end of the week Jeff and I are going to be starting The Battle Plan for Prayer by the Kendrick Brother's.  I'm looking forward to starting that!

This week we are in the book of 2 Samuel.

  2. I'm sorry you're still struggling the after effects of Covid, it's done a number on some of our family as well.

    What is it with the singers in that era? They told such moving sad songs, Red Sovine was always one that could make me bawl like a child.

    Hope you are able to get some rest and feel better.
