Happy Homemaker Monday for the 1st of October!

Photo from Momy's Musings

I am linking up with Sandra from Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods..... Fall is upon us here in the Detroit area!  SO happy!  Cold nights spent with warm blankets reading with a cup of chai?  C'mon! There's nothing better!  It is going to be a wet week, but that will just hasten the turning of the leaves!

Right now I am....  listening to Lauren Daigle's new album on Prime Music.  So, so good.  I think her voice sounds like Adele's, am I alone??  I am also roasting some chickpeas, doing laundry, and blogging!  I'm a good multi-tasker :)

Thinking about.... Well, we took in a stray cat last week (long story) and named her Jane Austen. She came down with a horrible-sounding, barking-like cough.  We went to the vet and found out #1 Jane is a neutered BOY.  LOL  #2 He was diagnosed with pneumonia.  It's been 5 days now and Ollie (Oliver Twist - as he is a boy orphan always begging for second helpings! It fits!) is recovering nicely.  This is a picture of him sleeping and sucking on his tongue like a pacifier.

On the blog last week..... Not too much, but at least I've been pretty regular for over a month now and I feel like I am getting my groove.  I love sitting down to plan out my week right here on HHMM with Sandra and all of you <3  I also am a part of a few weekly book memes with my The Monday Book Report, most weeks I post my Top Ten Tuesday, and I've recently started posting a weekly health/weight loss update with Weigh in Wednesday with Stacy at Diary of a Weight Loss Journey.

On my reading pile.... Finishing up Sons of Blackbird Mountain and The Inn at Rose Harbor.  See all of my reading life on The Monday Book Report!

On my TV.....  (I'm spread just a little bit too thin!  LOL)

  • All the Chicago shows
  • Call the Midwife, season 2
  • Heartland, season 8
  • Cedar Cove, season 1
  • Ghost Adventures
  • The Dead Files
  • Days of Our Lives
  • Young & Restless

Movie of the week......  Rewatching "Eat, Pray, Love" - another great book! So many thoughts on this one......maybe a review later in the week.

The plan is also to watch MudBound on Netflix.  I read the book several years ago and just loved it.  Hoping for a quiet night this week to settle in!

Work Breakfasts: Using a Joseph's pita for a breakfast sandwich with an egg, turkey bacon, and feta.

Work Lunches: Taco soup with Weight Watcher's cornbread (it used to be 1 pt, I'll have to find out how many freestyle points)

In my planners...

Looking forward to this week.... My youngest sister Sarah and my two daughters and I are going on a quick trip to Mackinaw City!  It's a little over a 4-hour drive, but this is a great time to drive North in Michigan with all the leaves starting to turn.  We are only staying one night. We're not going to the Island (we've been there many times) but we will take in the Fort, walk at the beach, visit the lighthouse, etc.  Should be fun!  I'll do a whole blog post about it next weekend. And yes, we do plan on going over the bridge Sunday morning for some more lovely pictures!

The Monday Book Report, Edition #7

I am linking up with

Monday's:  Happy Homemaker Monday and The Monday Book Report, linked to The Sunday Post, Mailbox Monday, and It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Tuesday's:  Top Ten Tuesday
Wednesday:  Weigh in Wednesday

WHAT DID I READ THIS WEEK:  I finished absolutely NOTHING.  *sigh*  I read 1/2 of Sons of Blackbird Mountain by Joanne Bischof and half of The Inn of Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber.  I also started 3 other books and 2 audiobooks.  SEE MY PROBLEM HERE????? Just as in most other areas of my life, I have a very difficult time focusing.  (p.s.  I am finishing everything I started!)

I have borrowed a few e-books from the library this week that I am so excited about reading (uh, finishing):

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (10% finished)

The Queen by Kiera Cass (21% finished)

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (not yet started)

WHAT IS THE BOOK I MOST WANT TO GET MY HANDS ON RIGHT NOW: I've posted this book before, but I NEED it.  Barbara Kingsolver's Unsheltered"

WHAT ARE MY READING PLANS FOR THE UPCOMING WEEK: Finish Sons of Blackbird Mountain, The Inn of Rose Harbor, The Queen, and Little Fires Everywhere.  Finish audiobook "Still Me" by Jojo Moyes (about 20% finished) and finish 2nd audiobook (TBA but something seasonal, perhaps a Stephen King?)  during weekend road trip Up North (Michigan) for leaf peeping!

ANY NEW BOOK EVENTS OR BOOK NEWS ONLINE OR IN YOUR TOWN?  Not exactly reading related, but sort of.  October 6th and 7th my sister and I, along with my 2 daughters, are going to Mackinaw City for a quick weekend get-away.  The reason it is book related to me is that when I was younger (think teenagery) every summer I would go with my parents and I would always buy a new October-y Fallish book to read.  I remember buying a lot of Anne Rice back then :)  I'm hoping to score an amazing book this trip as well!

Happy Homemaker Monday: HAPPY AUTUMN!!!!!

Photo from Momy's Musings

I am linking up with Sandra from Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods..... It is beautiful and perfect and fall-like and I LOVE it!!!!  Yesterday and today waking up to 49 degrees!  Upper 60s and low 70s. Best, Weather. Ever!

Right now I am.... Hanging out with my windows open, sunshine spilling through.  I have my pumpkin spice candles and wax melts going.  The cats are chilling and I'm deciding what I want for breakfast.

Thinking about.... Last week I shared a picture of the rescue cat we took in, Jane Austen.  The past couple of days she has been coughing.  At first I thought she was just coughing up hairballs - but now I realize that she is either sick or has asthma or allergies or something.  We planned to take her to the vet anyway because we are not sure how old she is.  Hopefull,y it's nothing serious.

On the blog last week..... Mostly book stuff.  I reviewed two books that I LOVED!  I was very blessed with two stories that were amazing and wonderful.  5 stars for The Storyteller's Secret and 5++++ for The Great Alone!

On my reading pile.... You can read everything book-related in my The Monday Book Report post each week.  I am reading Nora Robert's Stars of Fortune and I just picked up the LARGE PRINT COPY (lol-ing at how excited I got that I could read the book without the aid of cheaters!)  of Joanne Bischof's "Sons of Blackbird Mountain".  I am hoping to get started on that one today.

On my TV..... I will be embarrassed at my list next week - already warning you.  New fall season!
Days of Our Lives
Yount & Restless
The Mayans

Monday - Thin crust pizza (there is a low-point thin crust sold at Dollar Tree! 1/2 the crust is only 6 WW points)

Tuesday - Leftovers

Thursday - Ground turkey gyros with homemade tzatziki and Greek rice

Friday - Leftovers

Saturday - Dinner with family & game night: My sister's choice

Best recipe of last week...... I made some WW-friendly grilled bbq center-cut bacon chicken sandwiches on a brioche bun.  Yum!
