Happy Homemaker Monday for 06/07/21

I'm linking up with Sandra for Happy Homemaker Monday!

The weather:::

It has been really hot for most of the past week, at or close to 90 degrees!  Today it is mid-80s and muggy.  We are expecting thunderstorms for the rest of the week.

On my reading pile:::

 I finished reading "A Year of Biblical Womanhood" which was interesting, funny, and informative.  However I couldn't shake the feeling that some things she made light of.

I also read "5 Things Successful People Do Before 8 A.M." by Terri Savelle Foy.  I'm always trying to get my morning routine to become a habit.  This book was very motivating and from a Christian perspective.

I read Angie Thomas's "On the Come Up" - pretty good.

Right now I am reading "Return to Me" by Lynn Austin

On my TV:::

 Days of Our Lives
You Tube videos
The Chosen - This is WONDERFUL.  You can watch the entire first season for free on YouTube.  If you haven't watched it yet, definitely check it out!

On the menu for this week:::

Monday -   Leftover chickpea salad on toast, fruit salad with vanilla Greek yogurt for dessert
Tuesday -   Chicken sandwich and air fried "everything" potatoes, salad
Wednesday -  Red lentil chili (vegan for my youngest)
Thursday -  Boca burger with potato salad
Friday -  Black bean and corn tacos with avocado, cilantro lime sauce, Spanish rice
Saturday - Peanut chicken and veggies with noodles

On my to do list:::

*Water the flowers
*Bible study
*Call my doctor to schedule a knee injection
*Pay bills
*Budget
*Call in refills

What I am currently studying:::

My SO and I are working our way through the Battle Plan for Prayer book by the Kendrick brothers.
I'm also doing "Becoming the Woman God Wants Me to Be" as well.  It's a 90-day Proverbs 31 study

Looking around the house:::
I am still completely enchanted with the abundance of windows in this house.  My office has 4, living room 3, and dining room 3.  All three rooms are open to one another so it makes for a lot of light.  My orchid is in bloom and starting a second stem (?) with buds on that one as well!  I've never kept an orchid for more than a few months and this one I've had for over 2 years!  I also have a 3-year-old cactus, a 5-year-old (I think) succulent, and a new edition of Emily's succulent she got at East but her room wasn't getting enough sun so now it is in my office!

Something fun to share:::

Not sure if it's really "fun" or not - but I'm finally trying to grow some veggies using scraps!  I have celery, romaine, green onions, and potatoes!  I'll let you know if we get anything!

On my prayer list:::
*My SO Jeff, as he is having his left hip replaced on the 21st.  He had trouble coming out of anesthesia with the last one, so I would appreciate all prayers!
*My Dad as he is going through Post-COVID heart tests.  He is still very weak and fatigued.
*My friend, Rose, who was just diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease
*My sister, who is drinking again with a failing liver (Cirrhosis)

Bible verse, Devotional:::

    Playing catch up. Prayers sent for all of your intentions 🙏
    And I hope that it's finally cooling down there. I'll be curious to hear how the plantings do. And I need to check out The Chosen- my Mom watched it and sang its praises as well.
    Blessings on the rest of your week. xo
