Happy Homemaker Monday for January 27th, 2025
Just when I finally got back to blogging - COVID reared its ugly head again! I didn't even leave the house and I got it! Jennah went to the store and lo and behold she brought the virus with her. It wasn't nearly as bad as 2021, but I was in bed around 6 days and then another 10 days I've had issues with shortness of breath (getting better) brain fog (almost gone) and a wonky heart. The last time started my a-fib, so I will need to see if this time made it worse. My meds do not seem to be cutting it now. I did very little of anything - reading, blogging, writing, etc.
*** The weather in my neck of the woods***
We had some frigidly cold weather while I was sick, but I never even noticed! We are now having very typical weather in the upper 20's during the days. Some sun, some dreariness, and some snow.
*** Things that make me happy ***
Reading a really good book. Candles that smell amazing. Sunshine in winter.
*** Book I'm reading ***
Reading:
Starting: The 8 Crafts of Writing (Book club in my writing group)
STILL just starting: Wherever the River Runs by Kelly Minter
Audiobooks: The 12 Week Year and about 1/4 of the way through A Court of Wings and Ruin. I keep trying to love audiobooks but for some reason it's just not the same!
Bible Study:
Started Bible Recap. Read through a good portion of Genesis this week. While I was sick, I listened to it through YouVersion, so I was able to keep up! Most days I studied along with Kanoe with the 2024 videos on Heart Dive.
Devotion:
This went out the window while I was sick.
*** What's on my tv today ***
YouTube
Cooking vlogs
Christian/Bible vlogs
Peacock
Days of Our Lives (forever!)
*** On the breakfast plate ***
I had a bowl of soup. There has been a lot of soup, toast, and popsicles in this house over January!
*** On the lunch plate ***
Spaghetti - just plain noodles and a bit of jarred sauce
*** On the dinner plate ***
I made mini pizzas on low-carb tortillas. BBQ chicken. It was pretty good and I used up some little bits of stuff instead of wasting it!
*** On the menu ***
Monday
Mini tortilla pizzas
Tuesday
Unstuffed cabbage soup with some garlic bread
Wednesday
Red beans and rice with corn muffins
Thursday
Shrimp with vegetables and farro
Friday
Beef stew Saturday
Moroccan Chickpea Vegetable Tagine with brown rice (I never got to make this because I was sick)
Sunday
Homemade chicken noodle soup *** On my to do list ***
Declutter is still on my list
Make doctor appointment
Pick up prescriptions
*** New Recipe I tried or want to try ***
Moroccan Chickpea Vegetable Tagine from Ascension Kitchen *Edited to add - have you ever used Harrissa paste? I did just a few months ago for the first time - I bought mild from Walmart - and it was so delicious! A little pricy, but I'm the only one who uses it so it lasts for awhile! Give it a try.
*** What I am writing ***
Very behind on writing too. January really threw me for a loop! I'm currently in discussion with God on my next steps!
I was a Days of Our Lives girl back in the day. I haven't watched in years though. I'd be so lost now. Glad you're on the mend!
ReplyDeleteI watched it back in the 80s - and what is funny? A lot of the people are the same! It didn't take long to get back into it - I've been watching it again for the past 5 years or so!
DeleteI just decided to give audiobooks a try and am enjoying it greatly. I hope you are all better very soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am not giving up yet! I will figure it out and audiobooks will be a regular part of my rotation! lol
