FREE Women of the Word Bible Study Starting SOON!

Image
I have been nudged by God for so many years and I have been too afraid to do what He has asked of me.  Over the years the ideas have ebbed and flowed along with the changes in my life, but the core of the calling was always the same:  WRITE.   He has planted the seed that I am to do a full year study on the Women of the Word .  Every month will focus on a different woman, and we will look in depth at who she was, what she did, where she lived, how her surroundings affected her, what was going on in history during her lifetime, her strengths and weaknesses, how God used her, what made her special, and most of all, what we can learn from her TODAY.   I plan to post every Wednesday and Friday, starting January 4th, with Sarah.  I'll be honest - a lot of this is still up in the air!  I know I want to do free printable worksheets, scripture memorization, word studies, verse mapping, journaling pages, etc.  I am gathering a playlist of so...

Happy Homemaker Monday

Image
I am linking up with Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for Happy Homemaker Monday ♥♥ The Weather ♥♥  It's been frigid, which I'm sure is pretty much the same across the country! But it's going to be 54 degrees in a few days and lots of rain.  I HATE that!  ♥♥ As I look outside my window ♥♥     I see snow on the ground and covering the top of my birdhouse. Cars passing by and a hockey rink in the park that will be getting some use very soon.  ♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥ Just doing a little blog hopping and taking my morning medicine!  I slept in this morning.  ♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥ Mostly thinking about goals for the New Year.  But also wondering where the little rack is that goes in the bottom of my Instapot went to!  ♥♥ How am I feeling ♥♥  I was hit with a vicious bout of food poisoning yesterday!  We had to cancel Christmas dinner.  Feeling much better today so we will be going to my Dad's to have Christ...

Mailbox Monday - A Day Late

Image
I am joining in with Mailbox Monday Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.  Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists. I didn't do much reading this week, but I did buy/borrow a couple of new books!  I purchased:  Mary Higgins Clark "Dashing Through the Snow"  (still on sale for 1.99 for Kindle)  From Amazon: In the picturesque village of Branscombe, New Hampshire, the townsfolk are all pitching in to prepare for the first (and many hope annual) Festival of Joy. The night before the festival begins, a group of employees at the local market learn that they have won $160 million in the lottery. One of their co-workers, Duncan, decided at the last minute, on the advice of a pair of crooks masquerading as financial advisers, not to play. Then he goes missing. A second winning lottery ticket was purchased in the next town, but the winner h...

My Top 22 books of 2022 - A Special Monday Book Report

Image
2022 was not a great reading year for me. I thought that I would be able to squeak together a top 10 for the year, but I was surprised when I was able to look back and find 22 books that I enjoyed enough to share here today.  I was only able to mark three classic novels off my list (in bold).  I read SEVEN Colleen Hoover novels.  The five that are underlined?  I remember NOTHING about them.  That tells me that I need to re-think reading those types of books.  The 7 books in italics are the ones that I most enjoyed the storyline and it has stayed with me.   Les Miserables, Victor Hugo 5+ It Ends with Us, Colleen Hoover: 5 It Starts with Us, Colleen Hoover: 5 Heart Bones, Colleen Hoover: 5 Golden Girl, Elin Hilderbrand: 5 Reminders of Him, Colleen Hoover: 5 Heartbreak Bay (Stillhouse Lake, #5) Rachel Caine: 5 Crash & Burn (Tess Leoni #3), Lisa Gardner: 5 A Year of Puttery Treats, Alison May: 5 Persuasion, Jane Austen 4.5 The Children...

Happy Homemaker Monday, December 19th, 2022

I am linking up with Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for Happy Homemaker Monday ♥♥ The Weather ♥♥ It is finally getting a little colder - and there is a possibility of a snowstorm on Thursday!  I really hope we have a white Christmas!    ♥♥ As I look outside my window ♥♥   Still ugly and gray.  Pretty quiet out there today.     ♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥ I'm technically working right now, but it SHOULD be a very slow week.  I work with life insurance agents who deal with high value policies - and I'd say most of them are on vacation!  ♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥ A lot of stuff really.  Jeff and I really want to move come spring and settle Up North.  But it is going to be SO HARD to be 4 hours away from my Dad.  He really counts on me.  I am not sure what to do.  I have TWO SISTERS who both LIVE WITH HIM - so you would think it would be ok, but it's not.  I'm 52. I've raised three children. ...

Book Review: Holiday Hope by Shanna Hatfield

Image
Holiday Hope by Shanna Hatfield GENRE: Historical fiction.  Sweet historical holiday romance.  SERIES: Book one of the Holiday Express series.  AUTHOR: Shanna Hatfield. I first fell in love with Shanna Hatfield's characters in the Pendleton Petticoat 10-book series.  I am a sucker for a good mail-order bride story, and she knows how to write them! Shanna has a large number of books published, and you can find them on Kindle Unlimited on Amazon.  FROM AMAZON:   Left alone in the world after losing her parents, Cora Lee Schuster travels across the country to the newly-established town of Holiday, Oregon, to become a mail-order bride. She arrives in town to be greeted by her future father-in-law with her betrothed nowhere to be found. When it becomes obvious her reluctant groom-to-be has no intention of showing up at the family ranch where she’s staying, Cora Lee must decide if she’ll follow her head or heart. Jace Coleman has loved tra...
