Women of the Word: Mary Magdalene #7

Hello and welcome to today's post where we will learn more about Mary Magdalene.

We know that Mary followed Jesus and the disciples during their travels. Another noted inclusion of Mary is at the cross of Jesus. There is no way to imagine, to understand, to empathize with what she went through, seeing her very beloved healer, teacher, and FRIEND being condemned for saying who He was.  For telling the truth.

Some of this may be difficult to read. But we know what is coming here.

Was Mary present when Jesus was flogged? When they placed a crown of thorns on his head? When the people were shouting "crucify him! crucify him!" When he carried his own cross the 1/3 mile to The Place of the Skulls?

She was with Jesus' mother, his aunt, and most probably her close friend by this time, Mary wife of Clopus.

Were these women who loved Jesus present for the actual nailing to the cross? When Pilate posted the sign "Jesus of Nazareth The King of the Jews"

The Place of the Skulls was close to the city, so I imagine this even drew a great crowd. I also believe that Mary was present for nearly all of this, as I don't believe she would have left His side.  Mary was loyal to Him.

Today, I'd like you to take the following verse and study it with the W.O.M.E.N. acronym (found below)

"23When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided His garments into four parts, one for each soldier, with the tunic remaining. It was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. 24So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it. Instead, let us cast lots to see who will get it.” This was to fulfill the Scripture:

“They divided My garments among them,

and cast lots for My clothing.”c

So that is what the soldiers did."

Please compare when it was prophesied that lots would be cast for his clothing. You can compare and educate with the following websites for free: biblehub.com biblegateway.com  They are both wonderful resources!

We have two more posts left about Mary M.  Jesus' death and His resurrection.  I'll have these to you over the next couple of days!

Be blessed, sisters!
